Notes: Great Crush Collision March" is written in a style popular in the last decade of the nineteenth century. Joplin may have traveled to Temple, Texas to witness the spectacle of an intentional collision of two train locomotives held on September 15. The event was attended by more than 50,000 spectators. The staged event ended in tragedy. The engine's boiler exploded as the locomotives collided, killing three spectators. It is not known if Joplin was commisioned to write this march.
